The Garuda (Sanskrit: गरुड) is one of the most well known deities mentioned in the Hindu Purana-s. His exploits in recovering the lost nectar of immortality, earned him enough respect, that Lord Visnu made him his mount. Considered a mythical bird with golden wings, Garuda is said to represent the essential teachings of the Vedas. When beginning any journey, be it a literal travel or a metaphorical journey or even a project, Garuda's blessings is sought so that it becomes fruitful.
